Filtering

We are still at the beginning of 2015 and I was just reminded that it is also a good time to look at what is happening in your life and what can make it even better.  It is essential that your environment and the company you keep may be having an impact on your journey to move forward.  I have experienced this impact before and found it necessary to really look closely at those things that may be having a negative impact on me and keeping my positive energy in a funk.  Here are a few things to consider if your positive energy is on the attack and you need to revitalize to get back on track.

You may want to ask yourself these questions that will help you analyze where you are currently:
  1. Do you feel as inspired and motivated as you once were?
  2. Are you allowing your environment or friends/family to bring you down?
  3. Is there value currently being added to your life through your environment, friends/family?
  4. Are you doing anything that will turn this around?
If you honestly answer these questions and discover that you are in a positive energy drain, then it is time to act to turn this around.  Below are a few tips that I have found helpful in getting me back on track.
Define and identify what is actually causing the positive energy drain.
Is this just a temporary set back that will remedy itself in the near future?
If you continue to let this negative environment continue will you be able to recover from it?
What value is this adding to your life right now and in the future?

It is essential that you take the necessary steps to get back on track and on the road back to your positive energy.  Your personal Happy Place.  This is designed just for you.  This is where you feel most comfortable.  Try not to wander to far away from this place because this is what will keep you centered.  Filter out those things that are bringing you down, or negatively impacting your life.  If it is not adding value, then ask yourself if you really need it in your life.

I have had to filter out negative close friends in my life that I finally realize how draining it was trying to defend myself constantly to them.  Once I realize that it was impacting my growth forward and put them into the proper perspective in my life, I actually got better.  This filtering is personal, but coming to grips with the negativity is difficult.  Challenge yourself to go towards the positive side and Defend your personal Happy Place.
